The music ministry exists to lead the church in following God’s command to worship him through song.  That Christ’s church is to sing as part of its worship is seen throughout both the Old Testament (1 Chron. 16:8-9; Ps. 30:4; Jer. 20:13) and the New Testament (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16; Jas. 5:13).

Two principles guide the selection of songs we sing.  First, we are to worship “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).  So the songs we sing are both theologically solid and spiritually uplifting, engaging minds and hearts as we allow the Spirit to engage our souls.  Second, we are to love each other as Christ loves us, selflessly and regarding each other as more significant than ourselves (John 13:34; Phil. 2:3).  So the songs we sing come from a wide range of styles of church music—everything from classic hymns to 19th and 20th century gospel songs to modern Southern Gospel to contemporary praise and worship--so that everyone in the church has the opportunity to worship with the type of music that speaks to his or her heart.

Several worship ensembles help lead the music in our worship services.

The choir is our primary worship group, leading worship about twice each month with a wide variety of church music.  The choir also presents a Christmas musical and other special events.  Everyone is welcome to join the choir, which rehearses each Sunday evening at 6:00.

Praise Team

The praise team consists of both singers and instrumentalists who lead with contemporary praise and worship music and hymns with contemporary arrangements.  Membership in the praise team for singers and instrumentalists (keyboard, guitar, bass, and percussion) is by audition.

SundaySongs Quartet

The SundaySongs Quartet which sings traditional and modern Southern Gospel music.  The quartet also performs for events in the community.  Membership is by invitation only.

TeamKIDS Singers

Our children’s music program operates out of our Wednesday night TeamKids program.  The TeamKids bring special music in our Sunday morning worship services once a month and also present a children’s Christmas musical.  All children from preschool through fifth grade are welcome.

In addition, there are opportunities for any interested singers or instrumentalists to bring special music in any of our worship services.  If you are interested, please contact the music minister to be scheduled for a service.
