Merida Foundation

The Merida Foundation is a charitable corporation originally founded and funded by Dorothy and Rudy Lemke in December 2003 to benefit the descendants of the ancient Mayan people of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Since 1982, now retired optician, Dorothy Lemke has been providing eye glasses to the poor, visually impaired people in the rural villages surrounding the city of Merida. Since its inception, the Merida Foundation has also funded nutrition projects for undernourished school children in the region. Today, the foundation is feeding nearly 500 hungry children at six nutrition sites.

Consider making a donation.  The Merida Foundation is committed to helping the people of the state of Yucatan, Mexico, not just with eye glasses and food, but however they are able to now and in the future. You can be a partner in this work by sending your tax-deductible contribution to this address:  Merida Foundation, 2212 Cedarbrooke Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

RBC has been collecting eye glasses for the Merida Foundation for several years now.  If you have prescription glasses, sunglasses, or reading glasses that you would like to donate, you may place them in the designated basket in the foyer or drop them off at the church office.

The latest newsletter for the Merida Foundation is posted on the Mission Bulletin Board in the children’s educational wing of the church.

Check the Merida Foundation website for more information on the work being done. http://www.meridafoundation.org

Collegiate Ministry at Lincoln

Collegiate Ministry continues another great year of partnering with the students of Lincoln University to spread the Gospel on campus and around the world. The fellowship night and Bible study has changed to Thursdays with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and Bible study at 8:00 p.m. The last Thursday of the month is evangelism night with supper at 6:00 p.m. (provided by one of the Concord Baptist Association churches) followed by a worship service and gospel presentation. Many students from the US and around the world are coming to know Jesus and are being discipled through this local ministry.  http://www.cbamo.org/collegiate.html
